The Coat of Arms of the House Damsween
What you are seeing here is a photograph of the drawing I made for my lovely wife’s birthday. (I would have scanned it, but it’s two feet high.)
I wanted something that honours our life together honestly and truly. So, it has the two of us supporting the shield and we are both wearing t-shirts representing some of our loves (a vampire for her and a rocket ship for me.) Our little boy Jasper is resting on the top
On the shield are:
The banner displays our house motto (“DON’T SCREW IT UP”).
There is a bird on the banner (because we like Twitter and things look better when you put a bird on it).
And at the very right hand side of the banner, a reminder of someone dear to us who is gone but not forgotten.
And there are stars. Because she is the centre of my universe.
I love you, sweetie. Happy birthday.

“My Hero”
Sometimes Beth asks me why I love her. So I tell her, honestly, “You’re the best person I know.”
I don’t just mean prettiest, sexiest, or funniest. I mean — literally — “best”.
She always thinks of other people and treats them they way she’d like to be treated. She doesn’t chose to be like this. She just can’t conceive of being any other way. And she doesn’t understand why everyone isn’t like this.
It’s not always easy for her. In fact, she’s gotten hurt when people don’t treat her the way she thinks people should treat each other.
But she can’t stop being the way she is. Even if it would be easier for her. It’s not in her to give up.
You could say she’s kind of my hero.
So when I sat down to draw a picture of her (and our cat!) for her birthday, I thought she deserved to look like a superhero.
Happy Birthday, honey. I love you.

Manly Moustaches of the Animal Kingdom, Day 30:
PLATINUM DONATION REQUEST — “P is for Penguins!”
In the final days of Movember, the last four drawings were selected by a group of very generous individuals who donated to Movember. This one was by request of Ryan Noble. Thanks, Ryan!
~~~
“Manly Moustaches of the Animal Kingdom” shows manly animals with manly moustaches* thinking manly thoughts.
It is a very artistic project which makes women say, “That’s all, folks!” and men say, “Please tip your waitress!”
You have been blessed with this gift of pure beauty in order to draw your attention to my participation in Movember.
Movember is when men grow moustaches in the month of November to raise money and awareness for men’s health, especially prostate cancer. There will be a new picture posted to the series every day in Movember.
If you enjoy “Manly Moustaches of the Animal Kingdom” — and how could you not? — then all I ask is for your kind monetary support:
Thank you.
* In the U.S., “moustache” is spelled “mustache”, except in the mind of a newborn child, because they’re idiots.
