He could actually see progress. What had seemed to be an impossible task five hours ago now merely looked long, back-breaking, and tedious. But very possible. Which meant it was a perfect time for a break. Richard sat on the low wall. He looked down on his now-filthy undershirt, found a moderately less filthy spot, and wiped the sweat from his eyes.

A Coke. A Coke would be good, Richard thought. But not a beer. No. Beer is party time. Beer is celebrating. Beer is hanging out at the Fox and Hen with the gang. (Let’s step away from that one, Richard.) Coke is sugar and caffeine. Fuel. Liquid drive. Something to keep those wheels spinning.

Spinning.

Spinning.

Traction. There is no Coke. Thinking about it is just gonna make it worse. The job. Think about the job. The big big job. The job that’s too big I can’t do it I should just give up NO! No. Not too big. Remember: the best way to complete any big job is to break it lots of little jobs. And since I don’t have any Coke, I’m gonna treat myself with a tiny little job. It won’t even seem like a job. Because it will be a “break”.

With a quick left-right! Richard cracked his neck and heaved himself to his feet. Breathing deep, he headed into the office for his calculator. Time to find out how much lime he would need to cover 232 bodies.
